Causes of Cau Bay river pollution
According to a report of the People's Committee of Gia Lam district, Cau Bay river flows through 4 communes and towns including: Trau Quy, Dong Du, Da Ton and Kieu Ky. Every day, Cau Bay River receives about 3,141m3 of residential wastewater through 26 main discharge points. Of which, domestic wastewater is about 2,826m3, livestock wastewater is about 15m3, and production wastewater is about 300m3.
Currently, the river is seriously polluted because it receives a large amount of untreated wastewater. Including domestic wastewater from people in residential areas in Long Bien and Gia Lam areas. But the main cause of heavy pollution is the wastewater from companies, businesses, and industrial parks on both sides of the river.
Only about 3km from the section of Cau Bay river flowing through Long Bien, Hanoi, there are dozens of waste production facilities. The lack of control in the Cau Bay river area has caused the river to be heavily polluted and shows no signs of stopping.
Propose solutions
According to the Hanoi People's Committee, in order to reduce water pollution in the Bac Hung Hai irrigation system and ensure water quality for agricultural production during the dumping and irrigation period in 2018, Exploitation Company Limited Bac Hung Hai irrigation project proposes to accelerate the construction progress of a wastewater treatment station for Cau Bay river. In addition, the company also requires that authorities, when granting permits for businesses to discharge waste into irrigation projects, must have the opinion of the irrigation project management unit.
In addition, Bac Hung Hai Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited also coordinates with Hanoi Irrigation Development Investment Company Limited to develop specific regulations for coordinating the operation of Xuan Thuy sluice as a basis for operation. reduce pollution.
Accordingly, the district has assessed the current environmental status, identified the causes and objects of industrial wastewater discharge and proposed a temporary treatment plan. In the immediate future, the district has arranged collection points and has a plan to treat wastewater using aerobic biological methods. Arrange the storage area to divide the treatment area separately, provide oxygen to increase the activity of microorganisms, add sedimentation products before discharging into Cau Bay river, and periodically vacuum the sludge.
Applying biological wastewater treatment products to biotechnology to limit industrial waste discharge levels. Brings effective wastewater treatment quickly, reducing pollution levels on Cau Bay River.
